Rules for 3v3 Floorball Tournament:
1. Team Composition:
- Players: Each team consists of 4 players (3 outfield players and 1 goalkeeper).
- Teams: Each can have maximum of 7 players.
- Substitutes: If allowed, they can happen at any time.
2. Match Duration:
- Game time: Matches are typically played in 3 thirds of 5 minutes each, depending on the tournament format, with a short break in between.
- Overtime: There are no overtimes.
3. Playing Area:
- Court size: The playing area is smaller than a full-sized floorball rink, usually around 20m x 10m or a similar size suitable for 3v3 games.
- Goals: The goal area is smaller, and goals are typically 1.6 meters wide by 1 meter high.
4. Start of Play:
- Faceoff: Games start with a faceoff in the center of the court. The same applies after goals or stoppages in play.
5. Scoring:
- Goal: A goal is scored when the ball completely crosses the goal line between the goalposts.
- No offside: In 3v3 floorball, there is no offside rule, so players can move freely across the court.
6. Rules for the Ball:
-
Ball handling: Players cannot carry or hold the ball with the stick for more than a few seconds (usually around 3 seconds).
Stick height: Players should not play the ball above knee height. - Fouls: High-sticking, body checking, and dangerous play (like slashing or tripping) are generally penalized.
7. Goalie Rules:
- Goalkeeper restrictions: The goalkeeper can use any part of the body to stop the ball but cannot play with the stick outside of the crease area (the goal area).
- Goalkeeper movement: Goalies cannot leave their crease (or may have restricted movement outside it) depending on tournament rules.
- Goalkeeper possession: The goalkeeper is usually allowed to hold the ball for no more than 3 seconds before releasing it back into play (similar to other floorball formats).
8. Penalties:
- Minor fouls: Common fouls result in a 2-minute penalty, where the offending player must serve the penalty off the court.
- Major fouls: Serious fouls (like dangerous play) might result in a 5-minute penalty.
- Penalty shots: Some tournaments may call for a penalty shot in the event of a foul that prevents a clear scoring chance.
9. Substitutions:
- Dynamic subs: Substitutions are generally made during a stoppage in play or when the ball is out of bounds. Substitutes must enter and exit at their team's designated substitution area (if there is one).
10. Conduct:
- Fair play: Sportsmanship is essential, and teams or players showing unsporting behavior may be penalized or disqualified from the tournament.
